HDR Photography
HDR is an acronym for High Dynamic Range.
The process requires the use of three or more frames of the same image. One frame is normally exposed while other frames are over and underexposed. Special software combines all the frames with the best attributes from each, to deliver a single frame with far more detail and color information than a more limited range photograph is capable of delivering.

Unique controls in the software allow for the creation of a stunning color image that is more like that the human eye sees but with enhanced color in the shadow areas. The human eye recognizes less color in darker areas while HDR processing reveals more of the color in shadow areas.

Over the past several months I have been photographing the red rock canyons of southern Utah, which because of high contrast lighting conditions and spectacular colors, are perfect for HDR photography. The first of my HDR images of autumn in the red rock country are shown below. I hope you enjoy them.

As with my other images, they are available on matte and fine art papers or on canvas.
